Barn Quilts of Minnesota

Barn Quilts of Minnesota

Thursday, May 9

6:30pm

Minnesota is fortunate to have several Barn Quilt Trails. Pieces of art that adorn the side of barns and buildings throughout the state are set up to not only pay homage to heritage or interests, but to bring people into an area. Professional Photographer and Speaker, Jay Grammond, will lead you around the state to give you a sampling of what is out there in hopes that you will take your own road trip. (Spoiler alert: Jay's program DOES include a few from Stevens County!)

Jay Grammond is a Professional Photographer living in East Central Minnesota. He has traveled to all regions of the state and loves to explore rural areas in search of barns and rural scenes. He grew up in Central Minnesota's lakes and farm country. He loves to travel the state of Minnesota and is excited to share this passion with you to encourage you to get out there and explore on your own!

This program will be held at the museum.

Two Groves of Trees

Two Groves of Trees

Thursday, July 11

6:30pm

It is 1936 in rural Minnesota.

A little deaf boy is outside at a country schoolhouse. He cannot hear what the teacher hears....a tornado-like dust storm is approaching the school. The teacher rushes out, trying to save the boy.

This real-life scenario will be read aloud by Linda Winter-Hodgson from her book, "Two Groves of Trees", while Della Conroy paints the scene.

Join us at the museum for this 'first-time' ever duo event!

Della's painting will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the program.

Light refreshments.
